Really, since 8th grade?  In the decade or so since you left grade school, no one else ever caught your eye?  You never once spoke up, and told the object of your affection you were sweet on him?  You didn’t tell your best friend about your feelings for him, and ask her to set the two of you up before she got involved with him?  You’re going to lead a sad, sad, lonely little life, my girl. 

Your unrequited love isn’t tragic or romantic…it’s lame.  You’ve wasted years of your life, pining away for something that was easily in your reach.  All you had to do was speak up.  And even if he had shot you down, surely finding out there was no chance, and the temporary heartbreak that would have caused, was preferable to watching him fall in love and get married, while you remained unhappy and alone.  Now that he’s permanently out of your reach, maybe you’ll grow up.

Today, I watched my best friend get married to the guy I have been in love with since the 8th grade. I was the maid of honor, and had to give a toast to the couple. FML
